BARNFIRES Website
Barnfires is the conglomeration of a thousand maniacal inventions recorded by one of god’s most misunderstood creations- one third man, one third howlin’ wolf, and one third snowy-eyed Midwestern child. Together these three distinct spirits coexisting inside the same physical vessel combine into the embodiment of an American incarnation. The pan handle of the big dipper is creaking in the glossy night and beneath two moons, one creature sits in solitude created in the image of perfection by the imperfect hands of human. Barnfires is the spiritual pursuit of ones self through the collecting of a thousand selves separated through out time and space, experience and rebirth. It is music as immortal as the Mississippi river in which all our muddy ghosts travel to on the road to new life. It is the optimistic reflection of one’s past and future alike. It is the realization that one thread of singular existence spreads through us all like the shadow of inevitability. It is old love and new drugs and high stakes language made to wake the sleeping spirit and howlin’ beast within us all. It is the madness of one man who one day was immersed in a revelation that he himself was so much more than just one man but a child as well, and a wild, food-chain entangled animal making its starving maniacal call through the release of pure boiling liquid music.

JIMBO DELTAWebsite
People who've seen a lot in the music business see something special in Jimbo-Delta... A longtime Chicago blues artist introduced Jimbo-Delta as "The Real Deal"... The Chicago Sun Times says... "Jimbo Delta, a k a Jim Parks, gives winks to the region his moniker suggests with clean resonator guitars and the vocal range of a young Johnny Cash. Parks considers himself to be true Americana, something the lazy river strings of his debut long player, "Hypnotized" (2002), certainly reflect. But new tunes in the works flash electric-guitar effects and pitter-patter blues beats. Either way, the man's got a knack for blending new sentiments with old traditions." Jimbo-Delta truly is authentic Americana Roots music.

| LAST CHANCE TO SEE THE MASSACRES!- FREE WITH TICKET TO THE ROCK CLUB...$5 WITHOUT ROCK CLUB TICKET! |
THE MASSACRESWebsite
Your final chance to see The Massacres at work!
In 2003 The Massacres were off to a rocky start; going through many members until they able to secure a line-up in the summer of 2004. By September 2004 the boys had their first official show at the Fire Side Bowl, and quickly the word about Chicago's Psychobilly boy wonders spread.
In a few short months the Massacres had already begun to climb the ladder; already doing midwest stints with Psychobilly legends Demented Are Go!, Calavera, and with Canadian band The Dead Cats. Constantly on the move, The Massacres had the honor of sharing stage with Batmobile from Holland (a mainstay in the Psychobilly scene since the Klubfoot days of the 1980's), and Zombie Ghost Train (Australia) in 2005 at the Hollywood Showdown.
The release of The Massacres first studio album "Season of the Scarecrow" on Flying Saucer Records resulted in a West Coast tour in 2006. This tour was a great experience and let the Massacres share the stage with great bands like the Rezurex, the Strikers and many more.
In 2007 The Massacres did a 2 day stint with Mad Sin, hitting up Chicago and then New Jersey at Asbury Lanes, as well as a few shows with Micheal Graves of Misfits fame.
In 2008 The Massacres released what would be their final studio EP, "Redemption". 2008 also marked The Massacres first show at the Metro playing with the Horrorpops, The Cute Lepers, and The Pink Spiders, killing their set with a great response from a mixed crowd of punks, rockers, rockabillies and psychobillies.
The last time you may have caught the Massacres was in March of 2009, headlining the first annual Psychobilly Spring Fling with Al & the Blackcats, and The Arkhams.
In short, that brings us to 2010, and August 7th will be your last chance to catch The Massacres. Not once, but twice in one evening! Coming a bit full circle in some ways, The Massacres have been there done that, and are grateful for all of the opportunities they have been given, and thankful for all the friends they have made along the way.
As always...FUCK YOU! We're from Chicago!------

Local legend and Stranger patron Ted Stragner says: "Who is your favorite band? | THE .357 STRING BAND (WI) |
|
LAST FALSE HOPEWebsite
Last False Hope is the brain child of former punk/hardcore vocalist Jahshie P. (Failed Resistance, Neverland). He wanted to take traditional bluegrass instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, and banjo, and use them to create fast, and heavy Punk and Hardcore music, while keeping the Bluegrass element very relevant. Jahsh began playing mandolin in early 2009, and acquired his wife, Kristina to play the banjo along with Arcadia Kust throwing down on the fiddle and female vocals. Soon after, Dave, Dave, Steve and Sean joined the group to complete a very diverse set of musicians!
THE .357 STRING BAND (WI) Website
The .357 String Band has spent the last four years criss- crossing America and Europe in half broken down vans, playing in filthy rock and roll clubs and honky tonks, sleeping on floors and couches, or if neccessary underneath the stars.
Tightly written compositions and a surprising lyrical depth make The .357 String Band a force to be reckoned with.

Unlike any other band out there, Pearls Mahone & The OneEyed Jacks, are undoubtedly one of the most exciting up and coming rockabilly bands out today! Memories of a rural childhood haunted him. He'd spent years giging and touring with a band from Southern Ohio. The young band decided to move to Chicago. Some things didn't work out. It proved to be a hardscrabble life for the transplanted farm boy. But now, ten years and half a dozen bands later, he's left wondering why he's here and still doing it. There was some thread of a dark rural gothic that needed to surface in his next project.

HAMELL ON TRIALWebsite
Ed Hamell picked up the guitar at age 7 and started writing songs not long after. In his early 20s, Mr. Hamell was the front man and writer for an original band, but local bands were a dime a dozen in the tough, working class neighborhoods in Syracuse, NY. So he launched a one-man act called "Hamell on Trial."
DON GIBSON Website
A talented songwriter, Gibson was nicknamed "the sad poet" because he frequently wrote songs that told of loneliness and lost love. He wrote and sang "I Can't Stop Loving You", a song that would be recorded by more than 700 artists, most notably by Ray Charles with a pop version in 1962. He also wrote and recorded "Sweet Dreams" that would become a major 1963 crossover hit for Patsy Cline. A great fan, in 1967 Roy Orbison recorded an album of his songs simple titled: Roy Orbison Sings Don Gibson.

SHANNON RICHARDSON BAND Website
"Beautiful" by definition means having qualities that delight the senses, excellent, wonderful and the bands personal favorite, highly enjoyable. As much as the definition of the word "beautiful" may mean it takes on a whole new shape and form for this young Chicago band. They have a new EP and the single is called nothing less than "Beautiful Life Is". Much like the definition of the word, the songs are heartfelt, catchy, hip, erie eclectic and rockin. The band is currently composed of four members all hailing from Chicago IL. Shannon Richardson (Vocals & Guitars) Chris McGowan (Bass & Bck up vocals) John Park (Drums) Mark Watland (Percussions).

NOAH'S ARK WAS A SPACESHIP (NE)Website
Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship is a band from Omaha, Nebraska formed in 2004 by good friends Andrew Gustafson and John Svatos. The band has undergone several lineup changes and has settled on drummer Rob Webster in 2007. Influenced by late 80’s and early 90’s alternative rock the band combines noisy guitars, fuzzed out bass and hard hitting drums in a simple songwriting fashion.
THE KICKBACK Website
High drama rock band that conjures the very best parts of the Veils and the Walkmen and the Killers, writing lean, nervy songs that snarl and snap. Yost has a marvelously agonized voice and he wrenches notes from his larynx, hurling himself against the songs' propulsive rhythms. -Rollingstone.com
GERONIMO! Website
"Listening to Geronimo!'s debut LP, Fuzzy Dreams, it becomes obvious that the Chicago trio isn't interested in being straightforward. Eight-minute songs like "Table Legs" and "Battery Acid Moustache" lurch around patiently, scraping out needling solos and crashing into noisy territory without losing the groove (the former nonchalantly tucking horns into the finale), while shorter offerings like "Design Yourself A Heart" and "Nakajima" audaciously pair Black Sabbath-like beds of fuzz with trippy vocals."- Onion A.V.

Though often classified as straight up psychobilly or rockabilly, The Brains are really more at the hardcore end of the rockabilly music scale; it’s like punk with a serious twist” – Pure Grain Radio

ACCORDIONSWebsite
Accordions believe their music comes from many places: discovering a way of playing an old forgotten instrument, passionately expressing age-old truths through these newly discovered means, and most of all a sort of gritty sincerity that permeates the songs. And so the resulting music is like a seductive ghost that disappears as soon as you realize it exists, but always returns in an altered form. Accordions can be charmingly dark with their songs of loss and confusion but they have a bright side. Just remember, once they get in your head they will stick around for awhile.

GreyMarket is a two-piece electronic rock band hailing from Tampa, Florida.
Influenced early on by the likes of Radiohead, Muse, and Led Zeppelin, drummer Michael Gargiulo and guitarist/vocalist Cave McCoy set about creating their own brand of epic rock music. Rather than disrupting their musical chemistry by trying to find other musicians with the same vision, the pair elected to fuse with laptop-powered electronics, adding sweeping strings, buzzing synths, and pounding sine-wave bass to their arsenal.

STEREO STRIKES BACK Website
What the music scene needs right now is originality, and Stereo Strikes Back has plenty of it. A far cry from the typical pop punk that dominates most music scenes, SSB is a look back at the roots of what music is and should be...good ol' rock n roll. From their beyond impressive vocals to the old school guitar parts, everything rock is supposed to embody can be found in this talented trio's style. Scenesters beware, old school rock n roll is here to stay, and Stereo Strikes Back is way ahead of the game.

TOWNSHIP (MA) Website
"With so many bands looking to the 80's for inspiration, rummaging through the dustbins of a more distant past may seem like a revelation. So it goes on the new self-titled album of Boston-based Township (out 10/28) on tracks like "Beaver Fever" and "Sinister Minister," where the songs are as good as their titles' rhymes and the band works up a churning 70's funk while it sweats out classic riffs. With sludgy grooves, scorching solos, and Southern Gothic operas, Township fires off a series of timeless anthems that resonate like sun-bleached Polaroids." - Boston Magazine, October 2008

BEE VS MOTH (TX) Website
Bee vs. Moth is a multiple-genre, weirdo instrumental rock band from Austin, Texas. Our mission is to bravely explore the little-traveled and oft-neglected territory between Ornette Coleman's doom metal band and Mr. Rogers' dude ranch. Along the way, we'll tromp through a few Latin tunes, knock over some perfectly good chords, and spill improvised solos on our nice, clean shirts.

CAT AND MOUSE CONVENTIONWebsite
The ladies of Cat & Mouse Convention joke that they are Chicago's premiere Filipino and Jewish indie rock band. They may not be joking because they have yet to find another all-female Filipino and Jewish band in Chicago (if you know of another, let them know ASAP)! The multi-instrumentalists of all-girl Chicago trio Cat & Mouse Convention embrace the important elements of music. Thoughtful melodies, meaningful lyrics, moving lines, and lush sonorities weave through their sound. Not limited by set standards and instrumentation, the trio easily cast aside what confines many other musical groups. They bring a freshness and sensibility to the stale-repetition that sadly plagues much rock music today. With trained ears, discipline, humor, and honest experiences, they bring new life to the indie rock scene.
ONCE A PAWN (NE) Website
nce A Pawn is Eric Scrivens and Catherine Balta, a two-piece woman fronted punk/indie/alternative/rock band from Lincoln, NE. The duo has been playing music together for over 7 years and have been Once A Pawn formerly for 5 years. OAP has released 2 cds in the past 3 years, “This Way” EP, released in July of 2005 and “Do You Feel Like This?” full-length album in January of 2008. They have been touring now for a couple years around the west and midwest playing with a variety bands from all over the country. For being only a two-person band OAP has a full distinct sound unlike any other. Along with the uniqueness of their band, they play their hearts out and put on a high-energy show regardless.

THE MUGGS (MI) Website
The Muggs formed in February of 2000. Guitar player Danny Methric and Bass player Tony DeNardo were playing in two bands at that time: The Detroit Underground Blues Band and Fat Belly Brown. Danny was hanging out at The Music Menu in downtown Detroit when he ran into Matt Rost, a local drummer that had actually been in Fat Belly Brown for about two weeks before leaving, as he decided his band workload at the time was too heavy. They got to talking and Danny found out that Matt had just quit his main project, The Immortal Winos of Soul. Danny mentioned that he was looking to do something different than Fat Belly Brown, something more "bluesy", and Matt said he'd be interested.
THE SUEDE BROTHERS (OH) Website
"In Cleveland we have a form of music that we affectionately called Rust-Belt Rock and Roll. It's less of a genre and more of an attitude. It's rock and roll music that's low on fashion and filler and big on volume. We live in a region that is gritty, hard-working, and honest. In Cleveland there's a level of pride in being down, but not out and fighting with every last breathe to succeed." - Cleveland I Rock blog, Bill Rock.
